 Abstract:  The Western Reserve Society of the Sons of the American Revolution was organized February 22, 1892 with a jurisdiction including Cuyahoga, Ashtabula, Lake, Geauga, Trumbull, Portage, Summit, Medina, Lorain, Ashland, Huron and Erie counties. Its purpose was the perpetuation of the memory and spirit of the men who achieved American independence, through research, publication, preservation of documents and relics and celebration of patriotic anniversaries. The collection consists of two volumes of minutes which include annual reports of activities and membership lists.

 Abstract:  The Ohio chapter of the Order of the Founders Patriots of America is the local chapter of a national patriotic society whose members must prove descent from a colonial ancestor who settled in the United States prior to 1657. The collection consists of histories, charters, constitutions, minutes, membership lists, reports, correspondence, records of the national society, and records of other societies. This collection is useful to those interested in the activities of the organization until 1960. The material also contains information on the general views held by the order and other patriotic societies.

The society's programs include youth scholarship, adult literacy, national defense, community service awards, service to veterans, historic preservation, and conservation. The collection consists of a guest book for the lodge at Camp Sherman (an army camp in Chillicothe, Ohio), signed by hundreds of Daughters of the American Revolution members from across the country who visited there during World War I.

 Abstract:  Charles H Smith (1837-1912) was a Cleveland, Ohio, grain merchant who had served as an officer in the 27th Ohio Infantry Regiment during the American Civil War. His wife, Louisa Johnson Smith (1847-1932), was a humanitarian and civic leader in Cleveland. The collection consists of correspondence, muster rolls, general and special orders, reports of ordnance stores, returns, affidavits from the court-martial of John W. Mercer, legal documents about land purchases in Kansas, minutes of reunions of Fuller's Ohio Brigade, the Society of the Tennessee, and the Loyal Legion, speeches and miscellaneous notes and papers used in writing The History of Fuller's Ohio Brigade, and other military papers of Charles H. Smith; and correspondence, programs and papers from various patriotic organizations, speeches, and an incomplete scrapbook of Louisa Johnson Smith.

During World War I, the Ohio Society undertook a project to support members of the United States military. The collection consists of Selective Service bulletins, chapter names, check lists, correspondence, expenses and financial records, military and non-military war service records, notes taken in the office, notebooks, officer lists, and volunteer lists.
